Hundreds of Israeli doctors go abroad each year for a fellowship – most of them to U.S. hospitals, which are considered the best in the world. Many others leave for shorter advanced study courses to learn a new technique or to specialize in technologies and procedures still unknown or at least uncommon in Israel. When they return home they become experts who advance public medicine in the country.
