Gardening with Native Plants: This free class will introduce you to native plants of the Pacific Northwest worthy of growing in the garden. It will also introduce participants to Great Plant Picks and the native plants that are in that program. The presenter is Del Brummet, the head gardener of Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden, which features a variety of native plants from endemic plants of Washington to rare selections. Brummet studied biology at the University of Washington, where he worked researching native plants and their requirements for seed germination. The Zoom class is set for 6 p.m. March 9. The Modern Crevice Garden: Join Kenton J. Seth for this free Zoom class on Crevice Gardening. Crevice gardens have historically been an esoteric, European garden style with a strange name, but recent developments have catapulted them onto the international stage and into major public gardens and back yards, including the western U.S. Presenter Kenton J. Seth is a Colorado-based garden designer. He has a small nursery to grow plants for his projects, which range from western Colorado to both U.S. coasts and even a few overseas. Crevice gardens dominate his work, including a book due out in the summer. But Seth also works with natives, dry land gardens and meadows. His blog is at kentonjseth.blogspot.com, and photos of his work at Paintbrush Gardens.com. Free Zoom class, 6 p.m. April 13. Register at evergreenarboretum.com/classes. A link will be sent one day before the class and the class will be recorded and available for two weeks after.
